Communications Specialist Responsibilities Include developing effective corporate communication strategies managing internal communications (memos, newsletters, etc.) Drafting content (e.g. press releases) for mass media or company website. Phenomenal communication and copywriting skills make a strong communications specialist. Experience in corporate communications and project management is important qualities too. Your enthusiasm and positive attitude will help you gain the trust of colleagues and external parties alike.

Job Responsibilities:

Listed below are some key responsibilities and eligibility criteria for Communication Specialist position

  1. Develop effective corporate communication strategies
  2. Manage internal communications (memos, newsletters, etc.)
  3. Draft content (e.g. press releases) for mass media or company website
  4. Organize initiatives and plan events or press conferences
  5. Liaise with media and handle requests for interviews, statements, etc.
  6. Foster relationships with advocates and key persons
  7. Collaborate with marketing professionals to produce copy for advertisements or articles
  8. Perform "damage control" in cases of bad publicity
  9. Facilitate the resolution of disputes with the public or external vendors
  10. Assist in communication of strategies or messages from senior leadership

Job Requirements:

  1. Proven experience as a communications specialist
  2. Experience in web design and content production is a plus
  3. Experience in copywriting and editing
  4. Solid understanding of project management principles
  5. Working knowledge of MS Office; photo and video-editing software is an asset
  6. Excellent communication (oral and written) and presentation skills
  7. Outstanding organizational and planning abilities
  8. Proficient command of English
  9. BSc/BA in public relations, communications or relevant field
  10. Strong and effective communication skills
