We are looking for a skilled InDesign JavaScript Developer with strong hands-on experience in Adobe InDesign ExtendScript (JavaScript) to support automation and publishing workflows. The ideal candidate will be proficient in creating custom scripts, automating layout processes, and integrating InDesign with backend systems using Node.js and Python. This role requires a strong understanding of publishing workflows, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.

Job Details:

Key Responsibilities

1. Develop, maintain, and optimize Adobe InDesign ExtendScript (JavaScript) for document automation, layout generation, and data extraction

2. Create custom scripts, tools, and automation workflows within the InDesign environment

3. Build and support custom panels and utilities for publishing automation

4. Integrate InDesign scripting workflows with external systems using Node.js and Python

5. Automate repetitive publishing and production tasks

6. Troubleshoot, debug, and enhance existing scripts for performance and reliability

7. Collaborate with editorial and production teams to understand requirements and deliver scalable automation solutions

8. Optimize scripts for large-scale publishing and batch processing

9. Ensure compatibility across different versions of Adobe InDesign and update scripts as required

Required Skills & Qualifications

1. 3+ years of hands-on experience with Adobe InDesign ExtendScript (JavaScript)

2. Strong understanding of InDesign’s object model, scripting APIs, and automation workflows

3. Proficiency in JavaScript for ExtendScript and Visual Studio Code scripting

4. Experience with Node.js for backend automation and integrations

5. Working knowledge of Python for data processing, automation, or system integration

6. Familiarity with structured data formats such as XML, JSON, CSV

7. Understanding of publishing workflows, print production, or template-based layout systems

8. Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail

9. Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team environment
